CIAC State Baseball Tournament Dedicated to George Synnott

The 2021 CIAC State Baseball Tournament is dedicated to the memory of George Synnott who coincidentally had close ties to two of the schools competing for championships this weekend, St. Paul Catholic High School in Bristol and Berlin High School.

At St. Paul’s Synnott coached both baseball and basketball and was the Social Studies Department Chairman. He won two (1971 and 1972) baseball state championships and was runner up twice. He also coached the very successful Bristol American Legion team to numerous zone championships and in 1974 a state and New England championship with an appearance in the American Legion World Series.

He left St. Paul’s to go to Berlin as a Department Chairman, Vice Principal and Principal of Berlin High School. In 2010 he joined the Unified Sports staff at the Connecticut Association of Schools and helped the Unified Sports Programs become nationally recognized for excellence.

It gives the CIAC state baseball committee great pride in dedicating this year’s tournament to the memory of George Synnott.
