With the results from this past weekend’s 2012 CIAC Cross Country Boys and Girls Opens, 117 Connecticut runners have qualified to take on the best runners in New England at the 2012 New England Championships this Saturday in Cumberland, Maine. The meet will take place at the Twin Brook Recreation Area with the boys race starting the day at 11:30 a.m. and the girls race following at 12:30 p.m.
The top 25 boys and girls individual finishers from last weekend’s State Open qualify for the New England meet, and each runner from the teams that finished in the top six also earn the right to compete. The top runners and teams will be striving to capture All-New England status which goes to runners the individual runners that place in the top 25, and the top three in the team standings. The meet features qualifiers from Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut and Rhode Island. In 2011 eight boys earned All-New England honors as individuals, including the race runner-up, and the top boys team placed second in the team standings. Seven girls finished in the top-25 to claim All-New England recognition and the best team performance was a seventh-place finish.

Listed below are only the seven runners that competed for the qualifying teams at the State Open):
