It has been awhile since a regular new edition of Linked Up (though there was a Championship Edition posted last week) so there is plenty to browse in this edition. There is a bit of a lull in the high school sports calendar in terms of game action, but there are still plenty of worthy stories across the state.
- From the Stamford Advocate: Emotions were running high as participants ran for an incredibly worth cause in Hartford.
- From the Danbury News Times: A must-read story about the challenges of maintaining sportsmanship in the rapidly-expanding digital age.
- From the Forest Lake Times: An interesting discussion about how newspapers cover high school sports. The article is about Minnesota, but is certainly applicable anywhere, including the writers doing a great job to cover CT high school sports.
- From the Waterbury Republican-American: The town is not quite ready to stop recognizing the Thomaston girls basketball team.
- From the Norwich Bulletin: Very fun feature exploring the history behind the names of various sports venues in the Eastern part of the state.
- From the Enterprise News: A school administrators finds the answers for the merits of athletics in discussion with others.
- From the Greenwich Times: A profile of Greenwich standout swimmer Alex Lewis and his record-breaking season.
- From the Middletown Press: A columnist bangs the drum for women to officiate boys basketball.
- From KSL.com: A message from a perspective not often considered in the world of sports; the coach’s wife (or husband).
- From the New Britain Herald: This story highlights the development process for Berlin’s Kailene Rampone over the course of her career.
- From Yahoo! Sports: Mascot stories are always fun, and here is a mascot showing some appropriate compassion before celebrating.
- From the Hartford Courant: Some final quick hit thoughts on a memorable weekend of basketball finals at Mohegan Sun.
- From the Milford Orange-Bulletin: Foran is re-naming its baseball field in honor of long-time contributor Ken Walker.
- From the Bristol Press: A deserving honor for a volunteer who has dedicated countless hours to Special Olympics.
