Every MaxPreps photographer brings his or her own unique perspective to every high school event that is shot. In the case of the 2013 CIAC Open Cross Country Championships, photographer Geoffrey Bolte offered a perspective that we have never had previously from Wickham Park in Manchester – that of someone who has actually run the storied course.

Bolte, a Tourtellotte High (North Grosvenordale, Conn.) graduate, competed in the 1999 CIAC Class S championships at Wickham (as an alternate, he confessed). He was also a 2001 CIAC indoor track champion in 55-meter hurdles, which was his true passion at the time. “I was never fast enough in the long distances to make the (cross country) Open,” he said.

In any event, here are some of Bolte’s favorite photos from last Friday’s running of the CIAC State Open championships at Wickham Park in Manchester, as well as the complete galleries.
