Jonathan Law wrestling placed 15th in last season's Class M Championships and honored a former competitor in its first match this season.

Editors Note: CIAC sports committees meet periodically throughout the year, and the meeting reports will highlight relevant decisions or information from the meetings.

The CIAC Wrestling Committee met on Tuesday, April 29. The following were a few notable discussion topics and decisions.

  • The Committee addressed significant concerns about the continuing challenge of skin diseases and the challenges it presents to competition. Working to insure the health and safety of all student-athletes in dealing with the skin issues has made administering championship meets very difficult, and the Committee discussed a variety of suggestions in an attempt to address the challenges. No policy changes were enacted but the Committee members agreed to research what is done in other states and at the NCAA level and consider possible changes to policy going forward.
  • Though not officially decided, the sites for the 2015 CIAC Wrestling Championships will likely remain the same as the 2014 sites (Open — Floyd Little Athletic Center; LL — Trumbull; L — Bristol Central; M — Jonathan Law; S — Windham).

The Wrestling Committee will meet again September 24, 2014.
